Today is his birthday!
Today is Trevor's 27th birthday.
And he's straight!
Who'd of thought 27 years ago where this journey would lead us...
But, today, I met him after school, at his "friend's" house. His dad was there, too. We took aride to Trevor's place of work. Oh yea; Trevor has a JOB!!! LOL! He's working at a pizza/restaurant/catering place. The owner is a real chef who's worked at some high end places. He's gone out on his own, and from the looks of the place, he's going to make it. We did end up having a quick snack and a drink.
We went to Roger Williams Park Zoo for a few hours. If you haven't heard of it, it's nationally renowned. ANyway, what a place! I haven't been there for years, and it's grown so much! All kinds of animals in their natural habitat. We stayed about two hours and didn't get to see the whole place before it closed. I did miss the polar bears, though. They are supposed to come back to the zoo soon. But, there was so much to see, it was really a wonderful afternoon strolling though the park in the sun with my clean and sober son!

Trevor is back on methadone. He got dosed a few days ago. He's still in the stage where they are increasing his dose. He is almost at the level agreed upon. I pray this works. When he was on methadone before, it's when he was clean and sober for @ 6-8 months, (can't remember, honestly.) So, I'm hopeful, that things will work out now. I will focus only on the positive. He's clean, sober and has a job. The owner of the place knows he's a junkie in recovery. He goes to meetings. He has a sponsor. And the owner loves his work ethic. Funny, Trevor has always had a good work ethic -- when he went to work -- which meant, when he was straight! LOL!
Anyway, we went back to the restaurant for dinner. It was fabulous! The guy is a great cook! And he hired Trevor cuz the catering business is growing by leaps and bounds; he can't keep up with it. Trevor can have all the hours he wants, but, they have Sunday's off, so, he will always have a day off. I like that. As we were leaving, the owner spoke to me and said that Trevor was going to do just fine. I was really happy with the establishment and with the owner who was open, friendly and just a very nice person.
So, the three of us had a lovely afternoon. And I'm very very greatful for all the blessings in my life. Today, those blessings include the fact that my son is clean and sober.

This IS good news, Teach. I love watching miracles unfold and Trevor is truly a miracle come true.
I can sense your relief and how good it is to have your son back. He is always in my evening prayers, good days and bad, and tonight I think I'll add a special "thank You".
You've made my day and I'm doing the happy dance with you.

As we all know, it's one day at a time.
But, for today, it was wonderful!
And Ann, one of the reasons I love SR, and YOU, so much is that
When we are doing the happy dance,
There's always someone doing it WITH us!
I forgot to add that the owner really did seem to like Trevor and really did seem to care about him. The place is about a 15 minute walk from where he's staying.

Hi Teach! Great news about Trevor! I can relate to the statement you made about forgetting -"can't remeber honestly" - life has so many ups and downs when we have AS, AD,AH,or ABF. Of course we all dance with you - it's time to celebrate Trevor - Yeh way to go and with a job close to where he lives. (((HUGS)))

that is such good new, teach. i'm so happy to hear that trevor is doing so well, i'm praying that he continues to stick to his recovery, and you, i'm so happy for you, you've been through so much with this. glad to hear that you enjoy your day with your prdical son, if you don't mind me saying that. this goes to show that there is always hope.

Congratulations to Trevor and your family
I too have a 27 year old son who is sober roughly 4, maybe 6 months. it is tough to tell. i don't know much about methadone or its use, but I pray it continues to allow him to travel the road of sobriety and recovery.

You do not know how badly I needed to read this tonight!!!!!! So happy for you and your son--a new life--thank God!!!
My son is also 27 and has been in recovery for 7 months-I almost am afraid to celebrate sometimes-in case the sky falls----but I am so GD happy today....

Wonderful wonderful update. I'm so happy that you had this beautiful day and that Trevor is clean and sober and working!! Happy birthday to Trevor...Guess what? Today is my Megs birthday too; we just got backl from dinner and gift opening...Same age...born 7:58 pm, 20 inches, 7 lbs 14 oz...Sunday's child, right? It was an absolutely beautiful warm day...I remember that I went to the beach the day before and walked for hours. I think it was that prelabor energy surge
