TOPIC: Would You Like To Introduce Yourself? Where Are You From? What Brings U Here?
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the Grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent had a
drink of alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and you I am truely
grateful.
Im from Baton Rouge, La.
A wonderful southern state
even tho we have had our
share of hurricane tragedies.
Baton Rouge was spared from
the brunt of the storm however
New Orleans and other surrounding
cities didnt...
Baton Rouge is my home town
where i got sober some 16 yrs ago.
I began spiraling out of control
begining in Feb 1990 after i had
a bad accident....I had spent
10 days recoverying in the
hospital where they removed
my punctured spleen after
running off the road and hitting
a concrete culvert sitting on top
the ground....
After a few months without
alcohol....and the pain meds
had no more pain to heal....i
picked up a drink in Aug 90
and tried to end my life.
Thru family intervention I
was sent to rehab for 28 days
where i picked up the tools and
knowledge of my disease and
recovery which then set me on
the path of recovery.
I took the suggestions so
freely handed out to me and
followed the many who are
still walking the walk of the
12 steps provided for us.
I try to work and live those
12 steps in my everyday life
sharing my own experiences
strengths and hopes with
others getting sober.
My soul purpose in life
is just that....to give
away what was so freely
passed on to me.
So today i am glad to be
here with many of u...
if youd like to introduce
urself to me and others
and share a little bit about
where u r from and what has
brought u here...that would
be awesome.
From me to u...it's nice
to meet u.
Thanks for letting me share.

Let's see
I live in the "Land Of The Good Life"
Big Red Country
Mid West
I haven't had a drug (alcohol is a drug) since May 25, 2006 and for that I am eternally grateful.
Last I knew is that I was a male
I joined SR well like it says over <<<<<<
I didn't even know how to operate a computer at the time and my tech even signed me up. I didn't even know how to introduce myself
But I kept plugging away just like I keep plugging away on Recovery.....
Sometimes I wish it was just a little faster

Hi all
I'm Dee...I'm an man 'in the prime of life'...I live in Brisbane, Australia which is just out of the tropical zone...
I started drinking when I went to college - never touched it much at all before that- I was older than the rest of 'em but the 'spirit' got me ...I figured 'what the hell, may as well be part of the gang'....worst move of my life...
gradually it just took over my life to the point now, many years later, I'm only now celebrating 4 weeks sober, but feeling good...I just couldn't live my drunk life anymore...
I'm a musician...mostly bass guitar...love old sixties/seventies rock and cheerfully describe myself as an old hippy...
I love coming here and hanging out...
thanks all

There's a thread called Crank It Up for those
who like all types of music. Come share ur
song selection there if ud like.
I love music myself even tho i have no
musical talent. I am grateful to have a
son who is graduating this month majoring
in Music. He was the Drum Major in his
Senior yr at high school and has gone
on to do well in his education.
He plays the Trombone which to me
is an awesome instrument....I always
thought the brass was the back bone
of music performances.
My daughter who no longer is in
music also had musical talent and
played the French Horn.
Me, all i like to do is listen to music.
Jam out with it if u will....
Music fills my heart and soul.
Anyway....there is a way to add ur
music links there if u care to share.
