My AH Comes Home Friday....
After 21 days of impatient treatment, my AH comes home on Friday. I am proud of him, he has come a long way, and I pray that he continues his recovery at home. I also pray that I continue MY RECOVERY. As much as I have missed him (the sober him) I have not missed the chaos that an active addict can bring into your life.
I feel that I REALLY have to brace myself for the worst and hope for the best. But, if the worst does happen, I know I have my apartment waiting for me, my safe place to fall. I will not get rid of that apartment for a good long while! I don't care how much it costs! I NEED that for me right now.
I have an appointment with my therapist this week to set some healthy boundaries and prepare mentally for the transition. So, send me your prayers! I need them! : )
ps.
I went to see him on Saturday and we had the best time. It was beautiful weather here (finally) and we walked along the boardwalk next to the river, went to church together and said a private prayer with the pastor at the church. I also went to an open AA speaker meeting with him. It was so inspirational and good for the soul.
Even if the worst does happen, I will never forget the love that I have in my heart for my husband. I am also at peace with everything, I have no regrets, I have done everything I can to save our marriage, the rest is up to him.
LOVE YOU ALL!

You are in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Knowing that you have done all you can and the rest is up to him should give you a feeling of inner peace. Know that God watches over both of you and that you have friends here who care for you. My son comes home Thursday and has been gone for six months. He has a wife who is willing to give him another chance. I was at Al-Anon on Sunday evening and who walked through the door but my daughter-in-law. I really said a prayer of thanksgiving. God indeed works in mysterious ways. I felt that was a very good sign and I too am hopeful. hugs to you, dixie
