Cool Quacking at My Door!!

Just sharing a smile this morning.

A pair of mallard ducks have adopted me, confirming what I always believed...I AM a duck magnet.

These two come to collect seed and nuts that fall from my birdfeeder and silly me threw them some of their own....definitely an enabling move *sigh*

Now they come knocking, with their beaks, right up to my patio door. Even Toby has made friends with them now, once he got over being startled...

This is Daisy Duck...

And her husband Dougie Duck...

Wow! See the look in daisy's eye! Where is my food!? I once had a duck in my front garden, I decided it needed a 'run-up' to fly and maybe that is why it got stuck there, then it saw my cat and took off like a rocket. Strangely my cat is called Daisy lol.

Ah yes, they have that charming pathetic look of "please feed me NOW" and the more I ignore them, the more they quack and perform their "duck dance".

This codie is a little out of practice in dealing with ducks and I have to confess I have been drawn in to their lives even developing some affection for the feathered quackers.

I can pick them out, yes even of about 50 pairs out on the water in front of my place. I could swear I saw them waving and laughing and telling their friends...yes I DID.

Soon Daisy will have babies, and I will do a "family portrait" if she swims them past my house.

Hugs and Quackers

Nothing wrong with a bit of 'codie-ness' with our furred and feathered friends. I am a total sucker with animals, I was gonna volunteer at a cat rescue place but I know I would just take them all home.

Awww, Ann.

Your so lucky to have them so close.
I love birds, wild ducks, and geese.
Great pics, too. Wow! They really get up close and personal, huh?
Thanks for bringing me a morning smile...
Love to you, and your fine feathered friends,

lots more pleasant surprises. lol

Me too, Stone, I'd take every one home and become "the strange lady with cats".

It's quite a site to see them waddling up from the shore, like two ducks on a mission, heading for my deck. Here's a little shot of them on the lawn after I shooed them off my deck for pooping on it.

Ahhh aren't they just the sweetest!

(I too, have a weakness for the "quacking" thing.)

You are going to keep feeding them, right?
you know once you start, it's hard to resist the REAL quacks.

I love ducks.

Thanks for sharing, it brought a smile to my face after a hard night....

awwww ann,

that's sweet - have you ever read *if you give a mouse a cookie*? - be careful now that the ducks are up to the door - you know what'll happen if you let them in to the house don't you????

have a great day...

love,
s

Ann, thanks for the smile.

Now, if I start seeing pictures of your

ducks sitting in front of the TV with

Toby, I might get a little concerned, not.

hee, hee, quack, quack, hope3

Okay, more confessions...

I have found myself attached to more than quackers, it's the critters with the bad rap that I find so cute. This was last spring, mama and baby fox (there are two families each that had 4 babies) and contrary to their bad reputation, they "respect" cats and are not at all aggressive, just more cuties from the wild...

And one of two groundhogs that visit me most days....this is Digger and she is will be having her babies very soon...

I LOVE spring, can you tell??

Ann, one of these days Daisy and Dougie could arrive with at your door with little fluffy ducklings trailing behind. I have a feeling there's more to this quacking story
on the horizon. Have fun!

Ann,

I think I have found my new mission. I, too, am a DUCK magnet... perhaps I would do better to let the feathered kind into my home and life as opposed to the human kind...

Here's a little shot of them on the lawn after I shooed them off my deck for pooping on it.
And there you have it, folks. Confirmation that ducks of all kinds - they poop on your deck.
