Every day I come into work, the mintue I walk thru the door I start to ruin everyone's attitude. I really do.

First I see the security guards who check my ID. I offer my ID and I ALWAYS smile broadly and say, "Hello! Another great day!" No matter the weather, the misery or how awful I feel.

I get on the elevator and as I get off I wish any co-occupants "Have a good day" or say "Another good day" and I smile broadly to every one.

I go to the cafeteria and get my coffee and smile to everyone and say "Good Morning!!" whether I know them or not. Been doing this since I started here, thru the X moving out, thru it all.. no matter how I feel.

In the process I actually have got some people trained to smile and say good morning back.. and by the time I get thru with this entire routine, no matter how crappy I felt when I got up, I feel great. I truly do. I have made someone laugh (even if it is me) and I have passed around a bunch of smiles and just ruined the sour start to the day for a whole bunch of people, including me.

So... even tho it snowed yesterday

And even tho it is grey and spitting snow and rain today....
And even tho another mojor winter storm is forecast for Sunday....

I have the start of another really good day! My CHOICE.

I do the same thing. And everyone around me loves it. And no matter how badly I hurt inside I still tell everyone..."Having the time of my life"....it's my trademark. To see me on the outside, you'd think I am so joyful & happy. Funny, one of the things that my ex always loved about me from the time he was 11.

sometimes when I get off the elevator with some really DOUR looking people and entirely NOT within either within the character of my title or position, I say, "Next time around I want to be born RICH and not so DARN GOOD LOOKING!!!!"

Or I will do a twist on that.. by saying "Our problem is we were just born too good looking instead of rich...."

Usually get a laugh or an eye roll. Occaisionally if it is the Commissioner or someone like that I will get a stern look, but I laugh anyway. Come on! I do my job, take it seriously, take work HOME when I am stressing over it (guvmint workers DON'T TAKE WORK HOME but I did and I did when I designed bridges!). We all need to lose the stuff and laugh.

My cats are clowns (laughter encourages them).. my dog was a clown.. I had an Ox who would get you going (the stuff he pulled was something else)... Even some of the dairy cows would do things to make you laugh and I swear they knew you were laughing.

so, I smile and I laugh because life is short and laughter is sweet!

Thank you for making me laugh today. Kinda reminds me of a customer I told to "Have a good day" on the phone the other day. He told me "All days are good days young lady, some are just better than others." Hope you are having a wonderful day!
