Good morning...and update
Good morning...and update
Hi Y'all,
Good morning, and Happy Easter!
Just a short note to say Mr. Moose and I have returned to the SNOWY white North, and are missing the warm weather already!
We had a great time, and the time sure went quickly.
Update on son/s..
Both were released from the hoozegow March 19th, and 20th.
Youngest son is back with his devoted GF, and, as you all know his boss saved his job for him. They are working on a Gov't contract job, and son will be making good money, $22 an hour for as long as the job lasts. It's the first time in his life he's made more than $10 an hour, and he's high on life right now. He's attending meetings, which is part of his release, and appears to be doing very well.
Oldest son, moved into Sober House, and stayed 2 weeks, and was very unhappy there. He was room mate was receiving radiation therapy, and in close quarters, that's not a very pleasant smell. Therefore, when his lawyers legal secretary invited him to move in with her, (she's 5 years older, and a Sober gal) and share the rent, in the suburbs, he jumped on it, and moved last Sunday. He is attending meetings, and back to his old job of cutting, and trimming trees.
Mr. Moose is kind of upset with him due to the fact that with any money he now has, he is begginning to buy "toys" and there is no talk of compensating any money back to us. I think I will have a disscussion with son, although he will not receive any more money from us. We paid for one month of Sober House, $420, and he received $150 back due to only staying 2 weeks, which he applied to his new rent, it was okayed by Mr. Moose and I. So, he did get a start by us. and we're staying positive, and letting him know we think he is doing wonderful in his recovery.
Miracles happen.
Hugs to all,
Good morning, and Happy Easter!

Oh wow, this is good news, Moose. I am crossing my fingers that both these fellas will stay on a good path. It sounds like they already have a good start on it.
And yes, what is it about money we dish out and them never ever thinking of paying us back anything. There was a time when my son also had a good job, a nice place with his girlfriend who also made good money, very few expenses....and the money all went to toys...well eventually to other "stuff" but no thought ever of paying anything back or even offering a token amount just as a gesture of gratitude.
Uh Oh, now I am doing your sons and mine's recovery or inventory for them...yikes, we can't win can we?
Okay, backing off, hands off the addict AND their recovery.
Hugs

Great to hear, Moose!!!
Trevor got out on Thursday. He went to a half way house. The ex and I paid half, and will pay 1/2 for one month only. It's up to him.
BTW, I got his taxes done for him, while he was in. It cost me $90. I got it from him! LOL! A small down payment on the total, anyway.
Good luck to your boys, Moose. I'm rooting for them both! :
Shalom!

Moose, I will bet that if your son stays clean, somewhere down the line he will try to pay you back. But if he stays clean, isn't that payment enough. Just a thought. And I am so happy that they are both doing well. Have a Happy Easter. Don't you wish with this nice Christmas weather you could have stayed away a little longer Hugs, Marle
Marle,
Yes, I agree, it's worth much more than anything to see them sober, and high on life. The money issue isn't really a problem, and I know recovery takes plenty of time...(I have my fingers crossed...)
I'm a prime example, it took me a long time to back off, and let it be...
By the way, I'll be humming that song all day now..."Let it be, let it be...let it be...oh let it be...
Hugs,

So glad to hear from you even if it is back in the white stuff! Just think of it this way; you just replace white sand with white snow!! lol But your white stuff won't last.
That is great news about your sons. I really hope and pray that they can stay clean. At least, they are both getting good starts from the sound of it. I want to make $22.00 an hour!! lol
You guys are doing great and I understand about the compensation. What kills me is that there isn't even any conseration about it. If AD even spoke to us in earnest about things, we could be a whole lot more understanding. But they act like it's no big deal. Oh, well, hang in there and hope they both work on their recovery.

So glad to hear the good news.
I don't know why the A's in our lives think it is OK to not pay us back. I guess it is all part of the cycle between us and them.
Still in all, your news is GREAT news!

Such wonderful news! Happy happy Easter to you and family. It's great the boys are on the bright side of life.
As to monies they owe...well, let it be. Maybe when they get further along the road they may offer some.

Thanks all,
We had a VERY enjoyable Easter dinner at my mothers. Both AS's were there, and it was a nice, relaxing, sober Easter.
Usually when we have a holiday, someone pulls out the beer, or wine...
since alcohol isn't either of my sons doc, alcohol was never a serious issue...but....
I spoke with both sons before the holiday, and we discussed the fact that Easter would be a sober holiday.....my boundary. Just the fact that we can have a serious conversation, is amazing.
Wow, who ever could have thought a year ago, heck, a month ago...that they would both be sober, and doing well....
No expectations, just keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow, that is wonderful news! I feel so "hopeful" after reading how your Easter day went. Who would have ever guessed it could ever be like this - civil and peaceful??? I thought those words left the dictionary. lol
You've got a lot of recovery to draw on. I pray that they continue down the right path so they can live again!
