SR revisited

good morning....it's been months since i've been here.....and since then i have been off and on the wagon at least three times....still going to my therapist, and making slow progress....my last,"slip"after 30 days was planned by me,i set myself up.....and i fell hard...but i had a moment of clarity this time....i was always looking for reasons why i drink to excess....and i came up with a list....boredom,loneliness,depression,insecurity,i solation, and an inability to deal with my feelings...but,in reality,i see that the alchohol is the CAUSE of these feelings.....NOT the remedy!!!alchohol gives me courage, alcohol gives me security, alchohol makes me feel whole.......NOT the case at all...what a revelation.....it got so bad that i felt i had to have a drink in my hand to have a conversation with my own kids..i've been sober a few days now,and feeling physically better, but know i have a clearer view on why i do what i do......just wanted to share this with you all.and wanted to say hi to Steve 58.....

Welcome back Karrotop,

A great awakening and that can mean the beginning of recovery. It is scary and strange to begin your life without alcohol, but you can do it.

Hi again....

To quit I too needed to understand WHY
I have not had a drink
since I read "Under The Influence"

My favorite resource on alcoholism is
"Under The Influence"
and it has a sequel..."Beyond The Influence"

Both can be ordered from Amazon.

We also have excerpts from "Under"
Please click

Take care...keep posting...
