praise god--son is staying in rehab!
Wow, what an emotional few days this has been! My bf went drove me to rehab, and my AS and i met with his counselor. He was through the freak-out and had dealt with his anger. His counselor had spent some time with him and helped him reason it out. I am so thankful that he has such a good, caring counselor that he respects so much. They planned for his last four weeks in rehab and he seems hopeful about getting out. Thank you all for keeping me strong with your thoughts and prayers. Each one of you who responded said something I needed to hear. We ended up having an hour or so together without the counselor and he never once asked me to take him home. He even apologized for upsetting me so much. I've made it through one more day with my wise friends from SR cheering me on! You all rock!

Thanks for sharing your happy news!
I'm so glad your son is learning and willing to listen. He sounds good to me and the fact that he apologized for upsetting you is so mature and...sweet.
From one mom to another.... I bet you are so proud of him!

This is truly good news, for him and for you. It is not unusual for residents of rehabs to want to leave in the first couple of weeks. They are still detoxing from their drugs, going through emotional changes and are away from their homes.
Good for him for seeing it through, and good for you for letting this play out on its own. A good lesson for everyone, yes?

That is wonderful news...and that is how it works out when it "works out"
one day you'll respond to a post and tell some brokenhearted newcomer:
"don't take your addict out of rehab...that is not an option and here is why...here is my story"
if the rehab is a good one they are ready to help the addicts deal with detoxing, withdrawal and the surfacing of buried feelings etc...
the longer the rehab the better the results
I am so glad your son is in a good facility with trained caring people
My RAS is also in an excellent place and every day I thank God that he was given a second chance (more like a 200th chance!)
I know he doesn't deserve it over any other addict and I wish it was available to all...
I pray your son takes this chance and uses it for the good of himself and others
that is my prayer/hope for my son too
