Newbie here
Sorry, I skipped this forum and posted in another...but I am a newbie here and am so glad I found this site. I went to my first Al-Anon meeting tonight and I am feeling pretty good. Ready to face tomorrow and the challenges it might bring. I left my spouse and had to go into a domestic violence shelter. I don't regret it at all. It has just been tough to finally leave and stay gone when he is calling and begging me to come home and promises to stop. But he don't think he has a problem and certainly don't dare think he needs any kind of help. but he is physically addicted and has been for a long time. Along with that comes a frustrated man who takes that anger out on me. It was time to just get away and find me again.
So thanks for having me and I look forward to meeting you all...God bless.

welcome, lady.....i'm so glad you found us.....you are a very strong woman to do what you have done.......i know how scared you must have been, but you saved yourself, and wow, that is amazing...........so many women stay.....out of fear, of being alone, of their husbands, of doing it on their own.....i'm sure you know the feeling......i think an abusive man makes a woman feel eventually as if they are helpless.....and unable to function without them.....which i'm sure is part of the reason they abuse.....
i'm so impressed by this post.....you will inspire many others here....

Hey there Lady,
I spent most of the weekend on the Friends and Family page. I belong to both pages since I am an alcoholic and also recently escaped a five year long abusive relationship. There is a lot of information on the Friends and Family page that helped me. Men huh? They're enough to drive a lady to drink!
I'll find the link that helped me this weekend and send it through to you hun.
Kia kaha wahine whanau!!
