'nuther noob!

Howdy!

After about a week long binge...I think maybe I hit bottom.
After Fat Tuesday, that was it. And boy did I go out in style.
Anyway, I'm barely 2 &1/2 days in, but feel pretty strong.
I seem rather lightheaded though, like nicotine withdrawal. What helps?
Anyway, gotta make it through the weekend! I think I can do it!

Hi Finzup,

Welcome and I'm glad you found us.

Have you talked to your dr? That's always a good idea because alcohol detox can be dangerous.

Take a look around and you'll find lots of information and support.

Eat Eat Eat!! I felt like that too. It would get a ton better after a good meal. Try to eat "good" food, then snack on junk food. Sugar, chocolate helps. I've been eating lots of peanuts too. PROTEIN!!

Welcome to SR!!!

Yes... I suggest eating something as well. Soup is especially nourishing and comforting as well.

Hey I used lots of vitimins. Especially B complex, and magnisium. If you do some reading that is what they give in rehab, because when you drink you wash it all out of your system. Good luck, and keep reading this board.

WOW. I made it through the weekend! I guess I have more willpower than I thought. I had a couple of stressful points yesterday, but stopped myself and did not let it send me back to the bottle. I feel like I WON! 144 hours down.

welcome, finzup. i have a daughter in early recovery. she stays very busy and tries to stick to a "to do" list everyday. boredom was a real trigger for her, so this really helps. aa helps a lot as well.

she sucks on hard candy and chews gum. and she talks about her cravings. that's important..

blessings, k

Finzup & Leroysdad sounds like you are doing pretty good starting off, I would just like to share that you all are not alone, I am an alcoholic and found staying sober impossible doing it by myself. AA saved my life, a friend who knows 2 very important things is but a phone call away 24X7. What are those 2 things they know in AA?:

1. They know exactly what you are going through right now because they have been there.

2. The most important thing they know is how to not only stay sober, but how to become a happier and better person.

the chocolate milk probably helps because of the sugar boost....

hugs

Ayla I am not doctor, but I have read that lack of certain vitamins and minerals can cause cramps and other things, most multivitamins have zinc & magnesium along with iron.

For the ladies out there vitamin K is supposed to improve the strength of your nails.
