Aa

My friend next door has been in AA for quite some time now. She came up to see if I wanted to play bunko, and I told her that I quit 4 days ago and that I cant do it tonight. She asked me if I wanted to go to a all womans meeting thursday night and I think I will. May as well give it another try. I never went to that one before so who knows?? I might feel more comfortable around just women.
I'm telling her right up front though before we go that I am NOT reading outloud to peeps. I'm just going to sit and listen. If I feel like drinking afterwards like all the times before, then no more AA. But I am going to give it a try again. I need all the help I can get.
I didnt ask her if this is a book study or not, so???

Just thought I would update you guys.

Women's meetings are awesome! The one I go to is my favorite meeting. I feel so comfortable and welcome there. Go! I have a feeling you will enjoy it!

my daughter is 22 and she goes to aa. she thought she would feel most comfortable at the young peoples' meetings in our area. but after trying several different groups, she decided all women meetings were the best fit for her. it took a lot of different meetings though, to get to that decision.

blessings, k

Going to one meeting will not remove the desire to drink. It's a program, one of action.

That said, great for you ! Lot's of people, ,myself incuded, have found sobrtiety and serinity through AA.

Good Luck and God Bless.

Hi GP,
No, what I meant was that everytime in the past whenever I'd go to the meetings I would feel like drinking afterwards but was pretty content before. It's stressful to me I guess? I haven't been to this particular meeting so I'm hoping that I will feel differently than the times before. I hope that makes sense.

No meeting tonight. My friend decided to go to her Son's wrestling meet instead, so I asked her to call me the next one she goes to. I'm kind of relieved in a way, was nervous about it!
Anyway, day 7 has been great! I got a lot of things done around the house. Went down to see my grandson which was great!! Hope everyone is having a good day today!

way to go on making your mind up to try a meeting.

i go to two women's meetings each week. everytime i go, there is a different mix of people and the vibe changes with the topic/speaker/reading. i love my meetings and i get something different every time i go.

what i'm trying to say is that sometimes you need to visit the same meeting a few times to really get a sense of it; and that meetings can vary so much (my two meetings are sooo different from one another and they are both "closed women's meetings".) keep trying meetings out--shop around a bit until you find one that feels right to you.

let us know how it went and best of luck to you!
