Will this headache ever go away?
Seems like I have this horrible headache all the time (everytime I stop drinking). Seems like on day 1 its not too bad, day 2 gets really bad and seems to lessen after that. Did anyone else experience this headache after they stopped drinking? Also sometimes it is really hard to concentrate and find the right words.

Hi and Welcome!
Yes. I did have both in early sobriety.
Drink a lot of water to quicken de tox.
The headaches stopped in a few days
my brain fog took a few weeks to clear.
Congratulations on seeking a sober life!

You might want to go have your blood pressure taken just to be on the safe side. You should be able to have that done for free at the fire station or sometimes pharmacies have a blood pressure machine.
I hope you feel better soon.

i felt like i was dying. migraine headache, shaking, vomiting, horrific muscle pains, couldnt walk or talk,etc...of course i was detoxing off alcohol AND heroin. day 14 was a beautiful day.
alcohol and oxyco's here ... and hoo boy - I don't ever want to be that sick again. After talking to your doc, try to stay hydrated. Replace what you're sweating out with water ...
yes.
It does go away.
way to go!

Hi person,

Just visualise the poor old liver chucking all that stored muck into your blood stream that its been struggling to get rid of! flush that system with two litres of water daily and maybe help your liver along with some milk thistle, slow release vitamin c and vitamin b complex! My friend swears by green tea, although the sight of it scares me rigid! Dehydration is the biggy I think!

To describe detoxing from alcohol as sick would be an understatement. I did not detox off anything else in combination. I just went cold turkey from a hard core alcohol addiction, and in retrospect should have gone to a doctor.
I shook, sweat, threw up, dry heaved--that was for three days. I could not walked, had stomach cramps, chest pains, legs spasms, and drifted in and out of a delirious half sleep.
On top of that it was the start of day 3 when I hallucinated large multi-colored webs drifting around the room, and swirling patterns in the carpet. Then there was the party on television I saw when the television was off, the dancing rabbits on the wall--and finally I will not tell you what i saw.
No one would ever take a pill to see what i saw then.
After 5 days i started to feel better, but still had not actually slept.
That was the last detox I went through, and I have not drank again. I hope no one else decides to push their luck this far.
