Thumbs down relying on someone else for rides sucks

well here's to not having a license
my ride giver said that he would see me on monday and we left it at that for the weekend
I called him when I didnt see him at the normal time and he said he hadnt heard from me so he was Not on his way
I knew I should have called to confirm and that the guy is an idiot from the word go - He is a client that has helped me alot so I am going to try to let it roll off but If I get heat at work for being late Im gonna scream !!!!
Just wanted to get that off my chest before work

Been there done tha. I did the no DL thing for a couple years. It sucked. But, then again, I put myself in that position. Yeah, having a license is defineatly a priviledge. When you get it back, hang on to it.

my daughter is without a license for 5 years. then, she'll have to jump through a ton of hoops and have plenty of money for insurance. i had to sign a release so that she can never drive my car again, if i want to keep my current insurance. it's heartbreaking for me, i feel bad for her. but, she asked for it when she drove drunk and high.

it's life changing.

I had a license, but both of my cars were broken down.

I pulled my bicycle out of the garage and tuned it up. I walked. I took the bus.

I can sure relate frstnm, I'm in the no license boat for a year. But 6mo. ago it was 18 months, so I can always be grateful for being 1/3 of the way back to some normality.

being without a car and insurance for the first time in 26 years is the one of the most humbling aspects of the results of my addiction. being a "bus" person, as I used to call them, was something I never even considered. Now, I have met a ton of nice people on mass transit, helped people short on fares, assisted with their bags, etc. It's good for my recovery, but sucks for finding a job!!

Good luck on the new job, I'm still struggling to find one. Had some experience with jackasses at work too, most bullies back down if you stand up to them, cowards by nature. Though fighting will get you fired, at least stand your ground and if it doesn't get resolved go to HR. Document every incidence, send a e-mail to yourself about what happened whom, what and where. Most supervisors don't want to deal with this type of problem till it gets out of control. bosses can get in a lot of trouble for allowing hostile work environments. good of you to post here, let out your frustration, try the Serinity Now, deep cleansing breaths , that type of thing, just stay sober. it's F ing cold here in Syracuse today, -30 windchill, blew off NA meeting, have to walk 20 minutes to catch bus. My meeting tonite will be on the Forums, listening and sharing. God Bless All

its -6 degrees here today and has been like this for a week straight. ive waited outside in -35 windchill for up to 30 minutes for trains or buses just to make meetings or go to work. yesterday morning i was speaking at a 10:30AM meeting and wore a shirt, two sweaters, a hooded sweatshirt, jacket, hat, gloves, scarf wrapped around my face, 2 pairs of sock, longjohns, and pants...but im in a great place and completely content and happy!!

+1!

I haven't had my DL in 3 months, and won't have it back for another 9 months. I basically gave up relying on others for rides, it too disappointing and frustrating. I bought an electric scooter , and I can't wait for the weather to get warmer so I can take it out! Haha. It's small enough to not require license plates, but large and powerful enough to carry me for 12 miles or more!
