"After years of sobriety I occasionally ask myself:
'Can it be this simple?' Then, at meetings, I see former
cynics and skeptics who have walked the A.A. path out of
hell by packaging their lives, without alcohol, into
twenty-four hour segments, during which they practice a
few principles to the best of their individual abilities.
And then I know again that, while it isn't always easy,
if I keep it simple, it works."

Hmmmmn..."Don't drink, and make meetings"...that's about as simple as it can get, especially in very early sobriety. How much the alcoholic makes use of the program of recovery is by choice, but highly recommended.
One of my fellow group members (celebrating 25 years) was asked, "How do you manage to have so many years of sobriety?" His response was, "Don't drink, make meetings, and don't die." Can't get any more simple than that!
