I'm a newbie and 1 day sober

I guess I just want to say hello. I've never done this before and I don't know what to expect in return. I went to my first meeting today and now I'm home alone.

welcome - I'm on day 6. Joined this site a few days ago. It is a wonderful tool and support system for me between meetings and my work. Hope to get to know you better.

congrats on your first day!

you are doing GREAT! a meeting and coming here are perfect ways to get started. keep reading around the threads...lots of wisdom and inspiration out there.

finding things to do without drinking ws a dilemma for me when i first started. i read all i could about alcoholism (books and on-line), exercised, caught up on bills, drank something different than soda--lemonade/limeade.

I've been reading other threads and I wanted to ask you how the fire and smoke situation is. That must be awful!

The fires are still burning in remote forest areas and threatening a few country towns near Melbourne. Today the smoke is as thick as fog and when the sun does get through its a dull orange. We have fire fighters from all over the world and very few houses have been lost so far but this is only the start of the fire season.

The smoke is covering an area bigger than the UK.

My asthma is acting up just thinking about that much smoke! I hope you get some fresh air soon.
