well just got a call and my past has come back to haunt me. nothing too terrible but just fixing up things i did wrong in the past. i got a message from my ex (a girl i lived with for 5 years who is basically the meat and potatoes of my 4th/9th step. a year ago when i was literally at bottom i had rented a DVD on her account at the local video store. never returned it while i entered treatment. they called her today and told her about it. she informed me and i called the video store. turns out i owe $150 to them. not really in position to do it right this moment, but will be in the near future. its right by my wednesday home group so i figure ill give them what i can wednesday and make arrangements to pay off the rest (maybe $50 a week). anyways just goes to show you that i reprocussions for my behavior and thankfully im sober so ill be able to ultimately fix this.

Dealing with the messes we've made is part of recovery. Sometimes things can be fixed and sometimes they cannot. I'm glad that you can fix this one.

Chicago, I think it's great you are going to own up to your mistake, but in our area the max that can be charged is the price of the video. I guess chicago is tough on late fees.

You are being whacked, ask for the manager, explain the situation, and offer him $ 50.00, and at that you are being generous.

I have been in many similar situations, and ALWAYS found reasonable people willing to work things out.
