penpal?
i'm looking for someone who would be willing to trade messages privately- specifically someone like me. i'm 23 years old, from new york, female. i had my 1st drink when i was 16, was hospitalized due to alcohol poisoning at 17, and what followed through high school and college was a series of binge drinking, black outs, hangovers, and regrets. i've hooked up with people i haven't wanted to, cheated on people i love, and hurt those who are close to me. i've been trying to learn how to drink but i am starting to realize that i cannot drink and that is very sad to me.
is anyone willing to talk to me? i would like to get the perspective of someone who is just like me.

Newcomer
Hi - I'm new. I've been sober for 6 months, I'm a speed user, I'm 22 and this is the second recovery home I've been in. I've lost a lot of "talking buddies" everyone I used to talk to gets loaded. So I did a geographic and went into a drug rehab - now I just find it hard to talk to anyone. I completely shut down face to face but somehow online I can talk to anyone ... just in need of a little conversation.

As Phinneas has said, there are lots of ways to communicate here. Also, this forum, the Newcomers message board is very busy, so if you post, you'll usually get a fairly quick response.

Friends and Family are here for me, but they don't really understand what I'm going through.

You can receive messages from others anytime, but you need a few more posts yourself to be able to send private messages.
