Hi All,
I am new here . I have never joined an online support group before but have come to the realization that this may be the first step in helping me deal better with my brother's addiction. I am so overcome right now by my emotions.
A little about me. I am the oldest of 5 children, in my early 20's and newly married (4 months) to an amazing man. I have been struggling with my younger brother's(17) drug and alcohol addiction for nearly two years. It has taken a much greater toll on me more recently and even though my husband is a great listener, he just does not understand at all.
I guess I am here because I am looking for others who can help guide and support me in this journey. Sometimes I feel the anger and sadness just hurt my heart so badly. I am tired of hurting so so badly. All other aspects of my life bring me such joy. I am tired of having this addiction impact me so deeply.
I am looking forward to being a part of soberrecovery.com

Welcome, and please keep coming back to share. I hope you'll give Al-Anon a try. When I first went, I was told to try 5 meetings before deciding whether or not I liked it. I learned "detachment with compassion" and I live in gratitude to Al-Anon for saving my sanity.
Good luck to you.
Big hugs,
Luv
