Hi all, new to abstinence & climbing walls!

Hello, ive been using & drinking on & off (mainly on) since i was 15, ive tried time and again to quit but i havent been able to, i'd really like to speak to others in the same boat - its really hard coz all my mates are social users & drinkers and it seems like im the only one who has a problem

I had a bottle or so of wine & some weed tuesday night & since then ive been totally sober - im weirding out because its Friday night & im at home totally and utterly sober - i dont know what to do with myself and i dont think im gonna be able to sleep!

Anyway - hi

Hi and Welcome,

You've been sober for almost 3 days, so that is terrific.

As far as tonight and this weekend, I'd say make plans that don't involve drinking/using or being around people who are drinking/using. It is really hard to get and stay sober, and I think it involves making changes in your life. I didn't socialize for quite a long time when I stopped drinking. I never would have been able to get through the first few months if I'd been around alcohol.

So, plan ahead and do whatever you need to do.

Hiyas Hat and welcome to SR!!!!!!

WTG on 3 days so far!!!!! Home on a Friday night this early in sobriety is a toughy!!!! I know that keeping as busy as possible, coming here and reading or posting etc, really helps!!! Feeling weirded out is totally normal too, just stay really hydrated with plenty of water ....it helps to flush the toxins. Also, finger foods and chocolate seem to help too. Stay strong and keep us posted!!!!

Congratulations on making it through sober. Weekends were/are especially hard on a lot of us as that is when we would usually "let our hair down" with our fellow using friends. I struggled with weekends in the beginning as well as being alone so I made lots of meetings, cooked and cleaned, watched tv with the family and basically kept myself busy.

It will get better over time especially if you can find a substitute activity that you can look forward to that doesn't involve drinking or drugging.

Take care,
Kellye
