In recovery and dating a recovering alc.
Hi,
this is my first time here, on this site. I am actually 7 1/2 mths. sober in A.A. and dating a fellow A.A. He also has a mental illness. I also grew up in an alcoholic household, so I figure this forum would be good for me to check out. Not sure really where to start, but thought I'd just post this first message to break the ice. . .thanks,
classy (Laura)

to beat-up
Yes, in A.A.
My therapist, who is also in the rooms, deftly and humorously pointed out: NO WHERE IN ANY OF THE LITERATURE DOES IT SAY: "ONE YEAR". Believe me, I didn' t enter the dating thing lightly at all. I talked about it w/therapist and sponsor (who did suggest against it at first, but said she'd be there no matter what), and another sober friend in the program 15 years. etc.
And he talks about it w/his therapist and sponsor, so I figue we're talking to all the people we should be. I have been going to different meetings too, so I can actually "have" a meeting.
Can you tell I've got my case all mapped out?
Are you in the rooms? How long have you been sober?

Classy,
VERY good on your 7 1/2 month! I am a mother of a 23 year old daughter. She is addicted to Alcohol and Coke.
I just want to say that she has a very good friend (maybe boyfriend) who looks out for her.
He brings her to AA meetings- he is a Ex Alcoholic (but only for 7 weeks).
She stole money from him probably for coke, but he put her in a detox and rehab place. He goes to court with her and he emails me every so often.
So I just hope your boyfriend will treat you well and care.
Good luck-You must have a lot of will power-more power to you!
