I'm not doing so well. I WANT to quit but I can't and I am scared.

I have panic attacks daily. Only a dose of Xanax and some booze helps.

I am SCARED. I think that I need to check in somewhere and really be detoxed but:

#1 There is NO WAY in a million years that I can afford it.

#2 I have 2 small kids and a husband whose job is so new that he CANNOT take off.

#3 If I were to miss work for 2 - 4 weeks our finances would suffer a major blow.

What can I do? Is there a safe way to try cold turkey???

I KNOW I need to quit but I CANNOT do it!!!!

ive detoxed at home before from alcohol,and im also on xanax,and this is what i found out,....the xanax will take care of the alcohol withdrawals-just split youre doses up more,mabye increase by a half mg for the first 5 days....by then,the alcohol withdrawals should be over, and youlle have a week or 2 of depression/increased anxiety-and also the desicion as to what to do about the xanax!(which is a waayyyy bigger kettle o' fish!)usually decreasing with valium is better..but after the alcohol detox.....
the most important thing is to have ppl who love you who will come if you need them,and a non stressfull environment...which is probably the hardest thing...(im saying all this from my experience only, though..im no doctor!)
i dont know if thats nothing you havnt heard...but hope you get through.

I have no experience with Xanax or panic attacks.

I did quit alcohol cold turkey
The de tox took me 4 days.
