Just a teeny, tiny rant......

well not sure if you would call it a rant.

Some of you know but some of you dont know, that the alcoholic in my life died almost 2 years ago. I am sitting here reading the threads and seeing myself in so many of you - I did the same things.......I dumped the liquor.......I drove around looking for him.....the rehabs........the jails.......well you get the picture. How is it I can see more clearly about his problem now that I am not living it with him. I mean I got wise......at least I hope I got wise.....I finally learned about detaching.......but I was still allowed to love him even though I hated his disease........what he did to himself. And now I am believing that in the place he is in that there is none of that disease with him.......free of the monkey on his back.

I dont even know where this is leading. I just sympathize with so many of you and truly know what your going thru. How I wish I could wave the magic wand and make the alcoholism, the drug addiction, the hurt all go away.

Stay strong.......hugs to all of you.......

Hello there Debbie, and pleased to meet you. thanx for sharing what must be a deep pain. You _do_ have a magic wand that can help others. It's called Experience, Strength and Hope. If you wave it with compassion you will sprinkle us with the dust of serenity, and you will show us the path to recovery.

thanx for the hugs, and thanx for taking the time to share.

Mike

debbie - i'm in the same place you are altho it was just a year ago that my husband passed away. i don't have all the answers for so many who post here, but sometimes just responding to someone that you've "been there" and understand means a whole lot. in turn - just continuing to read here helps me understand things that i thought i knew or maybe didn't even think about while living with the disease.

look forwrd to a post or two from you! welcome!

Hi everyone......nice to meet all of you. I was a moderator when soberrecovery was just a small place.......thats what my little thing under my name means......I used to work here It actually wasnt work......I grew to love everyone here and I still. Not sure why I stayed away for so long. This place was like my home away from home......got me through some sleepless nights and things that no one should have to experience. Now that I am back I hope I can just help one person as so many have helped me.

More hugs to everyone and thank you for the welcome/welcome back

Welcome home, Debbie!
I remember you vaguely from when I first came.
I'm sorry for your pain, but, so glad to see you here again, sharing your ESH with others. You're a shining star.

Shalom!
