Cherokee Wisdom
This may have been posted here before, but hopefully you want mind reading it again! 
Two Wolves
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a
battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between two
"wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret,
greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I love this one. Back in the day when I was still trying to "help" R change his ways of thinking and make better choices, I remember I read Two Wolves to him over the phone one night. I also sent him God's Boxes, below, by mail (though I changed some of the words to help him be able to read it...). I sent these things to him to help him since they are both so applicable to him-- funny since now I see that I need to learn to embrace and practice their messages myself.
God's Boxes
I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."
I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.
With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.
I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me.."
I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go."

Those are both awesome.
And guy - thanks, I've never heard the Cherokee Wisdom story before. I really like it and I love the message! Great thing for me to keep with me to remind myself.
