Heart palpitations after binge.
Hi, after years of drinking about a 6 pack a night, I quit for 4 days, then binged. I have already have a tendency towards palpitations but this time it's off the charts. Went to doctor, said tests were normal, but they are jolting me awake every time I try to drift off. I have not drank for a week now and symptoms are worse. Going back to doctor today. Anyone else experience this? Knowing that others have been through this helps.
Hi Daniel!
I am glad you are going back to the doctor. We are not allowed to give medical advice here, and strangers on the internet are not a good source of medical information. What is normal for one person may be dangerous for another.
Regarding drinking, there is a phenomenon known as "kindling," and this is the tendency for hangovers to get worse the longer we drink. The only way to avoid this is to stop drinking altogether!

I had very similar symptoms, high anxiety in early sobriety caused episodes of palpitations and an EKG looked perfectly normal. Have your doctor continue checking if necessary. Welcome to SR!

completely normal. I have two years sober and anxiety will still cause palps for me. 20$ the anxiety your putting your body through is the cause. Ive work holter monitors three times for this, stress test, ekg, imaging, all of it and every time is 100% NORMAL.
I don't think the opening poster is around to benefit from your reply, but I certainly have done! Thank you.

Agree with Dee, please get to a doc and get it looked at. As I mentioned previously in this thread it was just a result of extremely high anxiety but I'm glad I had the EKG done, heart issues are nothing to take lightly.
