The Pogues - Shane MacGowan - Dirty Old Town - YouTube

I've loved Shane ever since I can remember. He was really intimidated by his big boofie father who looks like a stand over merchant to me.

Well now that the music marathon is over wanting to know how your health is going kzaug? Hope you are continuing to improve. Thank goodness no further use of drugs, as would not be a good look or outcome with pleurisy. Small mercies.

I have a friend who is very sick at the moment. Her name is Gitta and wanted to buy her a gift, naturally op shop.

Found this bracelet which is pretty crap but all I could afford at $2. The clasp is designed with the letter G (her initial) and it has an acorn hanging from the chain. I bought it for the symbolism, nothing more. Reckon it would clunk around your wrist if worn.

Thought I'd write "from little things, big things grow" on the card. Efrem Symbolist Junior I keep using that little smiley head 'cause I've only just worked out how to insert it. Easily pleased.

Herewith acorn bracelet, which the woman in the op shop told me is similar to one she bought in Germany, and Gitta is German. Love a good bit of dovetailing.

My best to all.

And now to prepare for final documentation around Matthew who according to him, has sole access to the Bowie Estate. God help me, I love my little brother, little d/head.

Just heard about Baton Rouge OMG when will it stop!

Early here, woke at 4:00 am after having yesterday completed the final documentation for Matthew.

Today he is being taken to the nursing home against his will and it is most horrible. Psych nurses trained in this sort of transfer are escorting him, with my sister and I being advised not to be present as he will blame us, and (probably) go completely off his head.

Don't know yet whether the cops will have to become involved, all will be revealed as the day unfolds.

Feelings of sorrow, anger and relief all mixed up in my head, but keep pulling on the reality that there is no other way, and that we DID find him the best place available, unless of course we had a zillion bux. Even so, this is a really good place.

Gotta thumbs up our Health System in that the place is really good as well as affordable. Having worked in the health system have my ways of knowing if a place is any good or not.

First being the observing of staff and management and how they interact.
Lousy boss = unhappy staff = unhappy patients. All staff appeared happy and engaging. Genuinely so.

There seems to be a genuine rapport between management and staff, and I could see this reflected in the faces of the residents. Those not completely knocked off looked happy. Some old bloke in a seaman's cap was doing a bit of shadow boxing so gave him a run for his money and made him laugh.

The boss fella was there too and he started laughing as well, so that was another good sign. The boss can have a laugh.

He hasn't seen Matt yet (pray) so hope he doesn't wear his tiara, it would just not work with the black tights, board shorts and Liberace jewellery.
Go my bro.

Strangely, as soon as I realised that we had found him somewhere acceptable my appetite returned almost immediately. I have not been eating for a long time and have lost heaps of weight. I have exactly 1cent in the bank and $12 in cash and am going to buy ice-cream. Chocolate Chip and Honeycomb. Both.

Can't decide whether to buy 1 tub of really good ice cream or 2 tubs of inferior. Think I'll go the one tub of good. Now I can be one of the girls who talk about eating ice cream, only I won't feel guilty because it's for packing on the pounds, and I do like honeycomb. Outside of that, over the last two days I have been eating really good food.

We will see how the day reveals itself. Happy Days.

Hope people weren't offended by my videos. I mean Little Patti was only 14
(I think) when she did "Stompin'' at Maroubra" and is very embarrassed about that period of her life, and she did grow to be a peace activist. I reckon give her a break.

My best to all.

Thanks Soberwolf but I don't know that it's the way I'm heading this week. Maybe the week after should be my goal. See how it settles with my brother.

Had a random thought whilst doing the dishes.

Was thinking about Chrissy Amphlett's "I Touch Myself", and how my playing of it might (just might) have upset some people's sensibilities. Hope not.

The song was actually used as part of a very successful ad campaign for breast cancer screening encouraging women to self exam for lumps and other signs of breast cancer. Keep Chrissy's legacy alive I say. Highly successful campaign, and in my mind a great song.

If you're reading this Blacky the video you posted (forgotten the name) where that blow up doll was being chucked around the audience made me laugh.

I used to go fishing with this Canadian bloke who has lived here for years. One day I decided to walk to his place to see if he wanted to go fishing. When I got there he was in the shower and asked me to wait....which I did.

He then called from the shower for me to get him a towel, which he said was in his wardrobe....naturally I went to the wardrobe and one of those dolls jumped out at me like a spooky zombie and really freaked me out. Today I laugh.

Perhaps my thinking is more liberal than some, but just so long as people don't get hurt or women abused I'm OK with all that stuff and will continue to be so.

I dunno, maybe Australia doesn't take stuff like that so seriously. But then I could be wrong and you were not at all offended. Who knows, unless you ask.

In space no one can hear you scream.

My brother has been moved to the nursing home and went compliantly. Packed his own little bag and thanked everyone at the psych unit, and they told us that they will miss him because he is such a character. He's steely's brother and he's good just like steely.

Thanks melki,

So good to see a friend during such a terrible time...and now the anti climax and the sorrow.

My brother went quietly with no protest. God love him. Amazing grace.

Prima facia a good outcome, but the look on his face during the days preceding was that of a hunted and frightened animal resigned to sit within the sights of both mental illness and the mental health system. It is the tragedy that Bill Shakespeare didn't get time to write and I feel broken. I WILL come good.

The mental health team has had to call the police on previous occasions when he has refused to take his medication and he always just "hands up"....smart enough to know that his choices had been reduced to zero and that cops carry guns. And therein lies the rub.

To see a man, anyone, completely reduced by the whim of others resigned and defeated, is pretty hard to take, he looked so broken. He wanted life, but he didn't get it. "Takes more than guns to kill a man." Any faith I had has gone out the window in more ways than one.

I just feel all broken up melki and know its the the aftermath. All focus has been on Matthew and now I'm feeling the aftershock, I WILL come good.

Your support in that one small gesure above means more than I can say. I'll try to think of a song for you melki...might take me a little time...gotta find the right one and will probably have to consult with the Department of Appropriate Songs.

You are a good woman melki and I thank you so.

.. Walter Cronkite ended the American support for the war .. after Tet and the battle of Hue city .. in 1968 ..

and still it went on to destabilize Cambodia and lead to millions of deaths there by the Khmer Rouge and their year zero agrarian philosophy ..

Nixon ordered the secret Christmas bombing of the Ho Che Min trail in Cambodia .. which allowed the atrocities to proceed ..

The killing fields ..

I stopped listening at 11:23 .. into his ******** ..

.. I am going tell you how history could of been changed for the same loss of life ..

.. we should have hit the North with Nuclear Weapons in 1969 ..
.. decimated their infrastructure and morale to fight ..

.. trade off of the loss of life possibly .. but no Cambodian Genocide ..

.. and a clear message to China and Russia that we ain't fu-kin around ..

.. is it harsh .. yes it would have been .. but it would have yielded a better outcome than history shows ..
