IMO it's best not to avoid anything just because it might stimulate a panic attack. It's best to learn how to tolerate and manage the negative emotions brought on by the stimulus. It's hard I know. I have an anxiety disorder and it's made my life hell at times. But I didn't start progressing until I got proactive about dealing with my anxiety. Avoidance is one of the unhealthy behaviors I've had to work on. I'm doing much better since I started learning to calm myself under stress. It's helping me adapt to sobriety too. |
