Feeling "Spacey"
Hello,
I'm new to this forum, but i'm not new to relapse. I was limiting my drinking to only beer on saturdays only for about 5 months and then about 2 1/2 weeks ago, i decided to drink 3/4 of a fifth of whiskey in about fourty five minutes. I blacked out and can't remember the night. The next day i felt like i wasn't all there and kind of felt like passing out but not really i also felt a lot of anxiety. I just kind of felt spacey and anxious (not to mention that i've suffered from anxiety and panic attacks in the past). This lasted for 14 days to the day when i just couldn't take it anymore and decided to do a beer only night. I felt fine when i was drunk from the beer, but the next morning, i still feel the same as i did before. Is this withdrawl? what should i do? How long will this last if i stay sober?
Thank you

Pojack,
I'm no doctor, but if you went thru 14 days with
nothing to drink...you were detoxed. Anything you
were suffering from is probably something else,
ie. "i've suffered from anxiety and panic attacks
in the past..". Best thing to do is go see a doctor
and be honest with him/her and discuss what you
are trying to do. If you don't know of one, you can contact
your local AA intregroup and they will be glad to assist you
in locating a doctor that deals with alcoholism.

Hi Pojack.Welcome to the forum.
I agree with Vinnie.Fourteen days would have been a long enough time for your body to detox.
Your body is appearantly chemically dependent on alcohol but it sounds to me like your anxiety disorder may be having something to do with what you are experiencing.
Please go and see your doctor.
Peter.

Thanks
thanks for your input...as soon as i read this, i set up an appointment with my doctor. Unfortunately, my appointment is more than a month away on march 25th (the earliest). I need to get a physical anyways because i havn't been to the doctor in a while. I myself think it is anxiety related because i'm always anxious.
Thank you
Thank you
