Alcoholic online screening-- scored 80%!!
I took an online screening for alcoholism and I scored an 80%! Omg, I knew I had some problem drinking but I didn't know I could answer yes to 16 out of 20 questions. I used to miss work a lot because of my drinking and I almost got arrested several times for incidents related to alcohol. I guess alcohol has been more of a problem in my life that I originally realized. I used to think my troubles were caused only by the other drugs I used...but then when I really look hard at it, I was preoccupied with chasing the bottle too and then of course trying to have 1-2 drinks and then ending up drinking more than planned.
Umm, and I used to think I had everything 'under control'!! Omg!!! At least now I can see the problem for what it really is. It just took longer than probably necessary to see it.

Hi Hipe... Congratulations for seeking answers to your drinking.
Alcoholism is a disease and it is progressive.
I suggest you get more factual info
My favorite book on alcoholism is
"Under The Influence"
and it has a sequel..."Beyond The Influence"
Both can be ordered from Amazon...
Blessings...

I used this screening. It was developed by a health program at John Hopkins University Hospital to assess drinking patterns.
When I first started college, I used to drink alone once a week to get drunk. Was that indication of worse things to come? A while after that, things got worse as it always does.

Wow, Hope. That's an eye-opener, huh? When I used to do drugs, I thought I was about to become addicted to them (coke, mostly) but then when all was said and done, I would never have tried drugs if I wasn't drunk...so alcohol was the problem (or the main one) the whole time!
It's good you're doing your 'homework' now to get a handle on anything that's holding you back from reaching your full potential - you can get there, sweetie!!
Here for ya,

I took the test and they still said I need help. I fell off my little colored wagon again. I thought I could handle just one this weekend and it turned out to be another one of the days that i could not remember how I got home. My husband left the birthday party and I lost it. I was just gonna watch the bb game but it turned out I let my guard down and I have been pretty stressed out lately trying to change jobs and nothings happening, nervous about working in another enviroment different people more interviews coming up which is a wonderful gives me confidence but also brings the stress along with it so I gotta batten down the hatches and dive back into sobriety.
OMG.....this thread prompted me to do one of the little online "tests" and when I answered truthfully that I don't drink now.....I was told I don't have any problem and it said goodbye.
Then I answered based on what a typical day when I was drinking and I scored that only 2% of people drink more then me.....DAMN!! That is pretty pathetic.
I love my sober life. Never trade that for anything.

I took a similar test and had a few of what I call "false negatives". For example Q:"has your boss ever talked to you about your drinking?" A:No, I am self employed. Q:"Has your wife ever talked to you about your drinking?" A:No, I am single.
No doubt if I had a boss or wife the answers to both of these would be YES.
