Back and forth...

Sorry for the vent...I'm so tired off the ups and downs. One week or every few days I'm feeling on top of the world. Abstaining from drinking, working out and enjoying the lack of hangovers. Then it creeps up on the me...the overwhelming urge to drink. I'm then back in the vicious cycle.

Well, the weekend was pretty bad. With Cinco de Mayo, of course I went out. Not only drinking heavily Friday but Sat. and Sun as well. I didnt yesterday and I feel better....So, here I am once again starting over. I guess keep trying and one day it might stick.

Take care,
Stacy

Stacy, I had the same experience Fri/Sat nights... I have assessed my past week with the HALT principles (see newcomers posting). I learned a lot from it. The cycle actually started early in the week with too much stress which led to lack of sleep that led in turn to hunger that led to anger and all was touched by loneliness.

In short, had I assessed with HALT everyday, it likely wouldn't have happened.

Feel better, you are at least sober today!

I'll be there was an AA group or an Alano Club somewhere near you celebrating Cinco de Mayo sober. Had you thought about that?

Hi Stacy. I wish I felt good being sober. For me, the anxiety and depression is nearly overwhelming. I do have some sunshine breaks, and the hope for more keeps me going. Remembering the hangovers and negative feelings helps too. You can do this!

I survived Cinqo de Mayo with no problem but my down came as soon as my hub left on a business trip. I'm also tired of the up/down business and wish I had some advice, but I'm just here looking at the advice given to you. Stick around and you'll get some good comments.
