approaching one week sober
well, I am on day 6 of being sober. it has been a few years since I've done this, so this is really a major step for me.
the months-long period of tapering off/cutting back has helped, I think, because I haven't experienced the shaking or itching that I had experienced before when trying to quit.
of course, sleeping is totally irregular.... but I've been able to manage that okay.
eating plenty of snacks, drinking lots of water, coffee, and smoking lots of cigarettes.
but hey, it's true what so many of you have said---it feels good to be sober!

unfortunately, about 4 hours after I posted the good news, I went out and bought a 1.5 L of wine. (and you know the rest)
but I know exactly what my emotional triggers were...not to mention the feeling of anxiety in my chest.
I gave an honest attempt and am proud of myself. I just need to keep trying. I'll get there.
