Back again

Hi, Well I am back here again and back at square one, I should have kept coming. I had over six months sober behind me, and blew it with 10 days of the old madness.

I think that I had stopped but not quit, whatever. Not much more to say really, I am not angry about it or ashamed just sad that I let it happen again, its not like I dont know what the outcome will be.

Glad there is this place to come to.

Pete

Welcome back!
At the risk of repeating myself....
People who achieve long term sobriety have three characteristics in common:
--they make a firm commitment to abstinence;
--they make lifestyle changes to enhance that commitment;
--they plan and practice for urges and drinking situations.
What worked that kept you sober for six months? What will you do differently this time?

Go ahead and repeat Don. I do. I figure if I do today, what I did yesterday, I stay sober another day. When tomorrow comes, I'll work on that one.

Glad your back!
The six months is still there.
As others have said you can be proud of that and use the learning to go forward.
Take care

Welcome back! As long as you keep picking yourself up and moving forward and keep trying then it's all just part of your personal journey. I agree with Ash... your 6 months is still yours - you earned every single one of them and that's nothing to be sad about. There are more on your horizon.

Be good to you,

Suga

Thanks guys, what will I do differently? This time I will quit not just stop, somewhere in my boozy mind was still the possibility that one day I might drink and in a way the mantra of "I might drink tomorrow but not today" maybe contributed, because for me, on one stupid day, I lived in tomorrow instead of today. Music is spot on we can only deal with this today, right now, if I get through to tomorrow then thats ok.For me I have to accept deep down that I can never drink again, ever.

Despite best advice I have not used AA, and I will rethink that one. When I stopped I wanted it to be like giving up cigs, quit and move on, no worries. This is different I need to be reminded each day of how low I have been with booze to stop the complacency creeping back in.

Anyway I am so pleased to be back here. On a lighter note I went and saw Australian Pink Floyd last night in Manchester, awsome if you like Floyd they are a must!!

Welcome back Pete. Thanks for the reminder of what it's like out there. I did six months dry on my own - but went on the **** again. Glad you've learnt something. AA works for me buddy (but there are other recovery methods). I had to change the way I was - and I work on that change everyday (as you have identified yourself) and my recovery program (AA) has brought about that change. Life is better without booze mate.

Welcome back ((Pete))

Keep working at sobriety and take some action. It's not just about not drinking. I had to change a lot of things. Had to think things through, ask for support and suggestions, learn how to react, or not to react to situations. It is a process. Still working on it!!

I can't do it by myself though!!

Glad your here!!
Hugs,
Missy
