One month
One month
Hi.
It has been a while posting here.
It has been one month being sober, and still going. The medicine seems to be working once again and I feel better than I did. Now it is keeping in my mind that I can't pick up another drink. Time has this effect where one feels like it will not be a big deal the next time around. I find that even in my most miserable points in life, things are mentally better than they are when not going through the feelings and consequences of taking the drink.

Hello Rj it's good to hear from you again.
I am happy to hear that you are not falling into the same old trap of thinking that "the next time will be different",it never will be for an alcoholic.
Staying sober for me today is "Priority #1" and I must never forget it.
I hope you will stay with us a while.

Congrats on the 30 days, hope to hear more from you, you really do only have to do this once, it's easier to stay sober than get sober, at least it has been that way for me, and one day at a time
I havn't had a drink since, 5-5-96
Keep coming back

Hi RJ,
Congratulations on your 30 days. I'm glad for you.
I'm not sure where you are in the steps. I found that my sobriety became easier when I wrote my first step. That is - documenting the unmanagability that alcohol had caused in my life. It helped me to see it in black and white and it served as a good reminder later on when the thought of a drink came into my head.
I wish you all the best.
Take care.

Thanks for sharing that recovering.
Also I would just like to add taht not only did writing about the powerlessness and unmanagability in my life help me to understand more about myself, but reading it back to my sponsor brought it all out into the open.
There is a power in the spoken word that has tremendous therapeutic value and healing qualities for me.
Peter.
