18 Months Today!!!
I can't believe this day has finally arrived! Tonight I get my 18 month chip (otherwise known as the cheater chip). It feels surreal to think I've been a year and half without a drink. I am so very thankful.
It will be bittersweet for me as my SO had always given me my chips. Now he is out of my life and in a hospital somewhere and I'm still reeling from the aftereffects of that. I will not let this cloud my happiness though as I know that I am sober through my HP and not my ex-SO.
For you newcomers struggling to make a month, a week or a day, just know that it does get better and that you can stop drinking while living a happy life. It takes work but the results are SO worth it!
Hugs,
Kellye

Hi I'm Sharon and I'm an Alcoholic.
It is wonderful to be sober at 18 mos. I recall mine as if it were yesterday. The excitement, accomplishment and amazement just made me feel happy all over. It's those first few chips we recieve after getting sober that hold the most meaning for me. But only to remember that the months and years acquired only add up to the many one days at a time and that we are only just one drink away from a drunk. Congrats. and best wishes on ur journey. AA friend, Sharon

A big thank you to everyone! The night was great. My mom came and was there to support me. It's only appropriate since she is the one who hauled me into my first meeting. Needless to say this was a much happier occasion.
Hugs,
Kellye
