Shine

I was driving home today, thinking about how I sometimes try to hide myself, sometimes I have pretended not to be who I am, for silly reasons. When I got home there was mail from our accountant. I wasn't really keen on opening the mail. Financially things aren't fantastic, this is a focus for this year for me, to be more secure in the money department. Anyway I opened the mail and there was this lovely poem in there that eloquently says exactly what I was thinking about on the drive home.

I wanted to share it with you all ... for those people that don't believe in God, perhaps replace that word with ... "Nature". May we all shine!

love brigid

Shine

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves:
"Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?"

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We are born to make manifest the glory of God
That is within us all.
It is not just in some of us, it is in ALL OF US!
And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously
Give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates other!

Extract from: Nelson Mandela's Inaugural Presidential Speech, 1994.

It is a beautiful quote. To give proper credit, it's actually by American poet Mrianne Williamson. May our collective light chase the darkness from all our lives.
