I didn't read all the posts. So sorry if this is a repeat
I take 250 mg/day (not 500 which is the standard Rx) some bad taste but not that bad. Ask your Dr if you can reduce. You'll still get sick as a dog if you drink. 250 just reduces the clearance time to about 48 hours, but just keep taking 1/day.
Yes I know it's a crutch. Yes I'm taking other steps etc. for my recovery - yes I plan on stopping once I feel a bit more involved in a recovery program. But for me I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be at 4 weeks without it. It really got me through those first few weeks, no doubt.

It works very well, if you take it!!
I never thought I had a smell or taste, but a friend commented on it once. I don't need it today, but for the past 4 years I have used it on and off. I am finally ready to be off of it.

I take Antabuse but here in the Netherlands it's sold as a 400 mg tablet, I have to dissolve it in a glass of water. I take 1 tablet every week, used to take two but then I smelled like garlic and had that metallic taste. Also I can't drink for over a week after taking one, not just 48 hours.
Right now it works great for me, walking past a liquor store without that doubt and temptation.
