I appreciate all of you.

I haven't posted in a while but I've been lurking almost daily.
Things are going very well for me now. I just wanted to let you know everything is going well for me. I really appreciate all of the suport you have given me. I may even have a new job soon. I got a call from a local school district looking for an Automotive electrical teacher.
I've had several interviews with them and they seem to like me alot. I'm really excited. Also, looks like they are offering me $10,000 more than my present salary.

Hello, Just figured I'd stop in and let you know I'm still alive. Still doing well with not boozing, which is good since I need to focus on other problems within my life. The weight is really starting to drop also. I told my wife I want to be down to a 180 pounds on Christmas day. Right now I'm 188. Not bad considering I started at 218.
Haven't heard anything about the new job yet. I know they are still doing background checks on me so, I guess I'll just have to be patient.

Now I can say I'm very familiar with St. Clair Shores. I keep my boat there.
Thanks Junkyard Dog

You're a few hours from me. Blissfield is about 10 miles North of the Ohio border. 10 miles west of US-23 (exit 5). We're just a dinky spot in the dirt (village). Our "biggest city" near us is Adrian (10 miles west of us). Just in between Ann Arbor, MI and Toledo, OH.

Glad to have you aboard!!!

I failed. It's been a long haul and I don't exactly know what happened but I picked up a beer over the weekend like it was nothing and put down about a 12 pack in one sitting. I'm so ashamed of myself. I feel like an idiot.
Just wanted to let you all know.

Jason
I am sorry to hear this...but don't feel like anything but a normal alcoholic!! So many of us have been there...perhaps this was a good way to show you that actually you can't drink 'normally' I know I have experimented, what a thousand times, oh, now I will be stronger than alcohol, I will be in control...it does not last!

So, let's see where you are now...you've learnt a valuable lesson. It is SO disappointing, but insightful yes?

How did you feel sober...you sounded very good...what can you do differently...were you using a recovery program...e.g. AA....would you like to give it a try? It works!!!!!

We are ALL here for you, you can get back on track TODAY. Don't beat yourself up - what you did is normal, but it's also dangerous...every time came back from a drunk I had to seriously thank God that it was not my last!

Keep posting and keep talking, and keep sober just for today. You have it in you!

Love

I guess what really gets me is, I was offered a beer and just picked it up and drank it like it was a normal thing or something. I didn't even think about it or hesitate at all. Just seems like a strange thing to do after I've been trying so hard.

I know what you mean, but you were clearly off guard...maybe complacent thinking it IS ok...you probably had been lulled/lulled self into thinking what harm one...I think it's very very common for us recovering alcholics!!! What do you think you need to do differently...did it reinforce for you that sobriety is better than the shame and horror of a morning after!

Yeah, You have that correct "Horror" is an appropriate word. I always hate waking up the morning after I've drank the day before. I always dread and fret about if my wife is going to say anything to me or not. Unfortunatley I haven't talked to her yet today. So, my gut is doing flip flops waiting to see if she is going to say anything to me or not.

It's a horrendous, and it still BAFFLES me that we can willingly choose to do it to ourselves..but we do. I am sure your wife will be understanding...my advice : talk to her, tell her how you feel and tell her what you plan to do differently.
Good luck Jason! See it as a glitch in the matrix. THank goodness you are back and it didn't last for weeks, months or even YEARS!

Jason,

I'm glad you made so fast. Here's the part that scares the beejeebers (sp?) out of me:

because I'm pretty darn sure the same thing would happen to me.

Well, I guess I'm back to step one. I made it through yesterday. I definitely feel the alcohol though. My chest is very tight. My sinuses are so clogged up I'm having a hard time getting enough air. In general I just feel like crap, emotionally and physically.
