CDr55 hits day 30!
Hi everyone. My name is Chris and I am an alcoholic.
Not only is today my 27th birthday, but it is also day 30!
This is the longest amount of time sober that I have had in my drinking career. I have tried this quite a few times and at the most only lasted four days. I am not posting this to brag, but I feel that if I have made it this far, so many other people can. This is coming from a guy that has drank enough E&J brandy to practically fill an olympic swimming pool (well maybe not that much, but you get the idea).
Life is by no means perfect, and I am really having to focus on living life by the day. I still suffer from anxiety and depression. I also enjoy sleeping in late, smoking a lot of cigarettes, and drinking coffee. I just figure that I'll deal with those things in time, and focus on my drinking now.
AA has been extremely helpful. I have met a lot of people, and I am getting support. I also feel as though I am learning more and more about my alcoholism, as well as the tools to live life one day at a time.
I really want to thank everyone on SR for their encouragement and support. You guys truly rock!!
I am happy to be a recovering alcoholic for today.

Hey Chris! That's too awesome for words!! Good for you, and also so glad that you have a program that you can rely on and learn from, and a support structure! Wonderful!
I can just imagine how good you feel - and you know what's really awesome, I used to feel a bit 'too young' (LOL!!) to give up at 31...well aren't you just amazing to do this still in your twenties!! Good for you! You'll never regret it!
Well done, chris! Please keep posting and sharing!!!
