the gender of God and other such stuff
I write a lot about using gender neutral language, and I also use the term Goddess a lot because a female image of my Higher Power is important to me... however, someone pointed out I'm being inconsistant... ok, I've learned to live with my inconsistencies, but what gender neutral terms for God (which is so associated with He) do you know?
Thanks

Here are a few that I refer to my God as:
"I AM"
Alpha & Omega
Almighty
Lion of Judah
Lamb
The Morning Star
The Way, The Truth, and the Life
Wonderful Counselor
"Let them praise your great and awesome name-he is holy."
------------------
Serenity is not freedom from the storm but peace amid the storm....

Very interesting topic!
I also have issues with gender designation of God. Therefore, I often refer to my Higher Power as "The Universe", meaning all things greater than human life and understanding.
For those interested in the concept of God as a female, there are a couple of good books to read - "The Chalice and the Rose," and "When God was a Woman." Very interesting reads, exploring the concept of early beliefs that God was female.

I love both those books! I like the FORCE... often use Sprit as well.
Glad to know I'm not the only one pondering this stuff

Actually, my theory is Spirit is all sexes, but I notice when I need a quick prayer my mind seems to want to conjure up an image or a particular tone... my theories are fine, but I don't seem to operate from them.
