I came here a few months ago, I've been off and on and moderate and heavy, the one thing that is the scariest thing in the world to me is that when i go completely sober i get so emotional. i'm an emotional person already i would say, but just like driving around I hear a song on the radio and i'll tear up.

did anyone else go through this lack of emotional control after quitting drinking? i can handle being bored and sad and whatever, but I hate that when I don't drink I cry for nothing.

Anyway I'm still trying, hope you guys are doing well.

It's completly normal to be going through emotional termal after getting sober. I can give you the chemical facts. When you where using you where operating on your primal brain. Emotions are very simple here you ethier want or you don;t want. I hungry I eat that sort of thing. But when we sober up we start using the higher levels of or brian agian and with thought comes emotion. stuff we have not felt sometimes in a long time. Fear is a huge one as well as loss. and you have to relearn how to deal with this stuff.

I noticed my moods leveled off within 2 or so months sober.

Well...How long have you been completely sober?

Are you trying sobriety without a support group?

Have you considered a medical check up? Or counseling?
