Found this and thought it appropriate to this thread
I am still impressed by all the messages being posted. This morning in my daily readings I came across this in the AA Daily Reflections book. It includes a comment from Bill W.
I hope no one will mind an AA literature being posted here but this is so true for my beliefs and so appropriate to this thread.
Daily Reflections
A.A. IS NOT A CURE-ALL
It would be a product of false pride to claim that A.A. is a cure-all,
even for alcoholism.
AS BILL SEES IT, p. 285
In my early years of sobriety I was full of pride, thinking that A.A. was
the only source of treatment for a good and happy life. It certainly
was the basic ingredient for my sobriety and even today, with over
twelve years in the program, I am very involved in meetings,
sponsorship and service. During the first four years of my recovery, I
found it necessary to seek professional help, since my emotional health
was extremely poor. There are those folks too, who have found
sobriety and happiness in other organizations. A.A. taught me that I
had a choice: to go to any lengths to enhance my sobriety. A.A. may
not be a cure-all for everything, but it is the center of my sober living.

That makes me think, too, of a saying I've used all of my life - it's not what you have, it's what you do with it.
And, the more I learn, the more I really believe that the biggest part of who and what I am is perception and attitude. Today I chose to see and act on the solution, not live in the problem.
Help, solutions, support, etc. from many sources are available to me, but am I going to use them? Am I going to do the work in front of me in order to move forward, grow, heal, and recover?
There are lots of different tools and programs available to help recover from this disease. Maybe rather than argueing which one is better or how they are different, it would be more helpful to look at what I am bringing the program of my choice.
hugs,
phinny
