How to kill those cravings

I found some pretty good advice in another thread on questions you can ask your self when cravings attack but whats some stuff you can do that helps curb those cravings?

Lightbulb Hi

Bard...

I ate a lot of sweets...that replaces the sugar in alcohol.

I also stayed away from drinking situations...and drinking buddies. Too much temptation.

Keep asking questions...

Yup, candy junkie here to, and proteins at night helped to. I kept hard candy on my because even three weeks after I quit those bewitching hour cravings would still kick in, like right before I got off work I'd start salivating and hurry to get to the car to get to the store to get home and crack that first beer.. so candy helped as Carol mentioned the sugar replaces the sugar we're missing from the alcohol.

AA meetings killed the cravings. Also, I did eat lots of candy in rehab and drank a gallon of coffee a day--not recommended. I was wired all night! But talking to people helps get your mind off it. I would tell my husband to talk to me about something--anything, even the weather--to get my mind off it. It usually helped. Prayer works great too!

When I would get a craving I would attend an AA meeting. I also started to drink a lot a pop. This I slowly got away from and when I'm having a hard time I can tell because I'll start to drink more pop again. I would also grab the BB or head out to the lake with my pole just to get away from everyone and everything.

I got in the habit of drinking lots of great tasting herbal teas. Celestial Seasoning makes on called "Tension Tamer" that really hit the spot for me. The tea gave me something semi ceremonial to drink when I finished work and it did calm me down.

Deep breathing helps me. I also drink alot of soda. I find that keeping my belly full of food helps, but I am worried about the long term effect of that on my waistline!

I'm smoking...pretty much chain smoking. I'd practically quit whilst drinking and using because of the price...but now I'm smoking 40-50 a day. It's not healthy...but at least it'll kill me slower :/
I'm also cleaning like mad...it's pretty hard for me because I have fractured ribs but anything I can clean without bending has been cleaned.
Exercising is good...great for frustration...I find I don't feel like a drink when I'm utterly exhausted...I just want to sleep.
