i drink water or milk now, i did toy with the idea or a non alcoholic beer....but i decided even if it comes in a bottle that looks like a wine bottle that would be the start of me drinking again and i would gradually start to drink again.

I concocted one last night.. it's a no sugar one (except naturally occurring)

THE LAVA LAMP

in a (tall) glass - ice
1/3 cranberry juice (100% juice)
1/3 diet tonic water
1/3 white grapefruit juice (100% juice)
1/4 lime wedge if desired
don't stir!

It separates into layers and swirls around while you drink it.

This is great!

I don't know WHY I never popped over to this board before--I'm on Day 9 of sobriety, and have been drinking so much tea of every variety, herbal and black, that it's practically oozing from my pores!

I don't know where I've been, but until now, I'd never heard of pomegranite juice--that, and the cranberry juice/seltzer water thing sound delicious (and they'll look even more "pretty" in a clear glass than wine does) Oh, and that lava lamp? That sounds delicious!

A couple weeks ago, I never would have dreamed such stuff would sound good to me--used to be, wine was it. Well, I'm off to the store in the morning to stock up on all this yummy, healthy stuff (and to pick up MORE tea--I've totally depleted our tea cabinet)!

What fun! Sobriety is a hoot!

Welcome to our SR Alcoholism Forum John...

I see from your Profile that you do not drink
alcohol....Good for you!

There is no alcohol free wine that I know of.

Try adding a big splash of juice to the water
Or a squeeze of line or lemon or honey.

Take care...

I believe it's called grape juice!

Sounds to me you're ready to become a tea drinker. There are so many kinds of wonderful teas, many of which are non-caffeinated. You could become a real connoisseur!

Also, in our home, we sip seltzer water. Very sophisticated!

I have ordered from these folks for several years. It is a fantastic GRAPE JUICE and it can be used in cooking. www.navarrowine.com.

This is grape juice, not reconstituted wine as was previously mentioned. I for one enjoy this as an alternative at dinners and holidays for those who do not drink, regardless of why. Strange as it seems to me there are some folks who just don't drink. With regard to temptation based on "pretending to drink" I certainly think each person needs to address that based on their own tolerance level. I am passing this on simply because the question was is there a good alternative.

PS. the quality of this product is very high and as such the cost is commensurate with that, about $12.00 per bottle. This referral was given to me by the grand sommelier at the Grand California hotel at the Disneyland resort.

By the way, I don't drink non-alcoholic beer simply because it has so many alternatives in my mind such as soda pop, sparkling water, and due to the fact that beer was never my poison.
