Peaceful quiet Thanksgiving
Hello,
I've been inactive the last six months or so, but not drinking so that's good. Just haven't had much to say. I guess that means that my life nowadays is far from the chaotic drinking days with it's constant anxiety and drama. Listening to a great album this morning. Graham Bonnet Band's latest 'Day out in nowhere". He's got a great song on that album about the twelve steps. Keeps me motivated for sure. I never did AA but for those who need it, it's great from what I understand. It's a good day today, I'm off work and I'm sitting here thinking about all the thanksgiving holidays in the past, where I was either already hung over from the day before or fixing to do something stupid to myself or my family. I'm so glad it's all behind me. I have nine years and four months under my belt. Never felt better. Hopefully this will encourage someone today to put the bottle down once and for all. Will it be easy? Will everything go your way after you do that? No, but it sure is a lot easier to handle life and it's problems and challenges being sober.

Nice to see you again, tnman. Congrats on your sobriety.
I've been reflecting on Thanksgivings from the past too. My mom would always make a punch with alcohol in it. Everyone would have maybe 2 cups - but not me. I'd have 10 - and finish off the bowl long after everyone else was done with it. I can't believe I never realized how abnormal that was - and how dangerous. But here we are now - sober - and free of it. I'm so thankful.
