No more meds :)
No more meds :)
Well, I've done it. I'm 110% off of all the meds I used to need to stay alive. It's been 2 months since I stopped all of them and everything looks good. No more blood pressure meds. no more heart meds. No more diabetes meds. This is one more victory in my fight against going silently into that good night. :P My bp was 115/74. I'm lighter now than I was when I got married. I'm feeling good.
For me, this was a big goal. Knowing I have liver disease, the less meds i have to put my liver through the better. So....yay for progress! I'm going to keep eating right and giving this world everything I can.
I went through some old posts of mine tonight from when I first joined. It almost seems like it was a different person back then..I sounded so sick and desperate...so hopeless at times.
I guess that old me had to die so this one could live. I don't miss my old life at all. As scary as things have been the past 2 years, I'm forever grateful for my new life and you people.
that's all. Just wanted to share some joy. I hope all is well.

I'm right behind you Bulldog! I've been on hydrochlorathyazide long term for my blood pressure and it's wreaked havoc on my skin - mainly face. it itches like crazy due to the sun sensitivity (and we have a lot of sun in the high desert). I'm just about a month from quitting it if my BP numbers stay like yours consistently for another month! it's no small feat giving up meds as you know. Drinking only makes the scores whacky. I've also been able to eliminate two toxic people out of my life (one being a daughter who is now living in an Oxford house, getting her life on track) and it feels GOOD not to engage in their drama on a daily basis. So many variables to living. Prayers for your health (and mine)!!
Good going, Bulldog! I had a similar sense of freedom when I got off my blood pressure pills for good. Kinda amazing all the great things that can start happening once we get sober and stay sober.
