Working from home today. I put in a complaint about a minor part on our new elliptical that seems the wrong size. Doesn't interfere with operation but they are sending a repair person over.

On the bus!

I hope the repair works out Dragon. I bought a pretty expensive brand name exercise bike when the adjustable tension motor died within six weeks. They sent random repair people to attempt to fix it. The first guy normally puts swing sets together for big box stores. The second and third people never showed. The fourth didn't have the right tools and left. It took many months until a competent service person was able to fix it. And he came from eighty miles away. I would have just taken it back, but the bike weighs a ton and took a long time to assemble. It was a frustrating experience and I now know that these big brand exercise companies don't have dedicated repair people servicing them.

Hang in there Alpine. I hope you learn the art of surfing the waves!

On the bus, coffee in hand.

Happy riding all!

I recently was called on to help an elderly neighbor put together an exercise machine she bought on some Home Shopping show...it was an adventure. She was so stressed out even though I thought it would be fun and she said, "We should have a glass of wine or smoke a joint," and I told her to go ahead but that pot and alcohol and I don't get along. The instructions were good and it wasn't particularly difficult, just time consuming. It's been working fine for eight month, maybe I should hire out to fix these things.

Gotta create your own niche, amirite?

On the exercise bus.

I see these around town a lot. Handy solution.

The ‘Some Assembly Required’ and ‘Assembly Required’ notices can strike fear for many.

I remember a Christmas Eve assembly of a wooden child’s kitchen combo (stove, sink, refrigerator, cabinet) that moved into the wee hours (4:00 a.m.) of Christmas morning. Our daughter loved it, though; it saw many years of activity and was passed around the family.

A potential need for appliance and equipment repair brings greater anxiety - cost, availability of parts, competency of the technician . Recently, we have had neighbors without the use of dishwashers (not the end of the world) and refrigerators (a pretty big inconvenience) for weeks/over a month (with no ‘loaner’ available); even a replacement can take weeks or months. The pandemic seems to get most of the blame but many of these appliances are, in my mind, too new to experience such functionality issues - the perfect storm.

First World problems, though.

We have an elliptical and after a few days it was giving out this "sweak" in rhythm to the pace of the walk...it was especially annoying at 3 am (he likes to workout before work).
Ready for this...
Funny thing...
it turned out to be the hard wood floor! Lol

On the bus!

Hang in there Alpine, a walk or a drive somewhere will remove the craving from your shoulders. This situation won't last forever.

I don't like my newest kitchen appliance, it is internet connected and always issuing me with instructions. I really resent being ordered around by a fridge.

That is hysterical, ChloeRose.

Sao, the newest homes in this development are Smart homes. The stove cooktop is Smart enabled, much to my confusion - who would turn on a cooktop remotely??? What could possibly go wrong? Anyway, the manufacturer had a nation-wide recall of the cooktops with Smart capability as they were turning themselves on without a prompt. What a potential disaster

Stay strong Alpine. The good news about recovery is that it's a set of skills that can be practiced. Maybe when the cravings hit just gently sit with them, take a few mindful breaths. The craving will subside whether you flip out or sit quietly. I find sitting quietly and being gentle with it all for a few mins makes it pass easier.

On the bus!
