I was having a terrible week. It was pincushion week. Even after almost 6 years of sobriety, I hate when they start doing my organ and blood work again. My brain goes to the darkest places, it reminds me of my first weeks in recovery. There's no worse feeling for me than hopelessness. BUT..... Labs and tests for my liver, heart and pancreas came back normal!!!!!!. Thank God. I was talking to one of my best buddies today when he reminded me of an old saying "Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present." Live in today. What a wonderful gift it's been.

Fantastic. My heart and nervous system (notably) have taken a pounding due to this last relapse of 7 weeks of intermittent binge drinking plus a small amount of cocaine. Of course there isn't one part of my body that hasn't been affected but...I look forward to achieving balance again. They say it takes 6-18 months for the heart to recover from binge drinking. This is motivating enough!! ☀️
