My Journey starts today 6/3/2021

Hello everyone, I had an account on this website for quite some time, I think this is my first actual forum post and replied to a few other things, been around and read on various topics, particularly related to alcoholism, especially tons of stuff on you tube. Wanted to start off with the history of my alcoholism. Started off around 18/19, as it all starts, once or twice a week, then to every day, now lets just fast forward, I am 36 years old now (basically an everyday thing now). I have been able to quit for various stints of time (few days) in that period but didnt make any headway.

Anyways, if I'm deeply honest about it, I just got some test results back, that were not 'good' per say. My doctor is well aware of the scenario and am on the proper meds to help with specifically (high blood pressure) and anxiety meds from withdrawals/abstinence (which were never really bad for me). High functioning drinker.

I told her my approach too this new beginning has got to be focusing on my health and the 'other' part, is alcohol and why I drink so much. I think it comes down to confidence and boredom.

So my plan going forward is to start:

1) Strict workout regiment and get into more 'healthy' habits.
2) Post on this forum daily and other which honestly I find very 'therapeutic', like a sense of getting it out
3) Spending more time in nature

I apologize for the long window response and will document my journey of sobriety going forward by responding daily with my thought process and will get to other forums with responses as I can.

Best of luck to you my friend! Best advice I can give is identify your "witching hour" , when you normally would start to drink and do whatever is necessary to make it through that.

Good to have you join us as a regular member bubbapug
The body is resilient - it's not invulnerable but it can repair itself if we stop drinking in time.

Welcome bubbapug - sound like a good plan to me, glad to hear you are working with your doc on the health side of things too. As Dee says our minds and bodies are quite resilient if we give them a chance to heal.

Checking in - no alcohol day 2. Small goals, one day at a time. No poison.

Well done on day 2, bubbapug!. You have a solid sounding plan. I find houghts are so important, because they can create reality. I find that staying focused and positive, reaps rewards, even if they're often down the line.

Checking in, going strong on Day 3, none of the poison.

Keeping a positive mindset and controlling the thoughts, along with exercising and gratitude.

Love the "spending more time in nature" resolution. I fell into that a couple of years ago and it has been a revelation. Why the name Bubbapug? Just curious!

Welcome and Congrats on day 3 buggapug. I turned my attentions to nature too when I quit drinking and now my garden looks wonderful. Nature really can bring a lot of joy and therapeutic benefits.

Just checking in with everyone, day 4 still on the sober train.

Spent a lot of time outside and got some sun (which seems to help a lot).

Hello everyone, just checking in, on day 5.

Just feeling the fog, being tired, but am gaining a lot more mental clarity today.
