On the early work sober bus. Happy riding all! |
On the bus. I woke up a little early today! Coffee - oh, and sirens...wonder what that's about? *peeks through the blinds* |
:shine8pl::wavey: :bus |
Those booze commercials on TV have me romancing and fantasizing about drinking 'One day...'. Leading to my shaking my head. I know that One day must never come. I hate it when my AV sneaks up on me like that! On the sober bus! How does that quote go? I will not drink today, I will not drink tomorrow and nothing can change my mind. |
Happy Sunday! On the Bus. |
I'm on the Bus this wonderful Sunday. Dragon, I'm with you on those commercials - they make drinking look so great!! It is not - not for me. Good job pushing those thoughts away :) |
Happy Sunday gang. I wonder if booze commercials will ever be banned from terrestrial TV. They did it with cigarettes waaaaay back (i'm not sure exactly when but I cannot remember a cigarette ad on TV and I turned 60 last year) I do remember tv ads for cigar and pipe tobacco in the 70s, they were really cheesy. I hope they do. |
I don't think so. Just saying. And you know.....if they showed ads for booze with peopIe who drank aII of the time, they wouIdn't seII any. Cos alcoholics don't Iook Iike the gorgeous put-together actors that they hire. |
On the Soberbus early :bus I agree Suze, booze is made to look to be glamorous instead it’s addictive and poisonous. |
The booze industry depends on alcoholics to make profits. With a third of people not drinking at all, and another third averaging less than one drink per week, it's a small subset of the population that they need to continually purchase their products in order to make money. I remember reading that it's the heaviest ten percent of drinkers, i.e. us, whom supply the booze industry with 90 percent of their profits. They need to keep our addictions going to make money. On the early work sober bus, coffee in hand. Happy riding all! |
Count me in on the Monday Soberbus :bus |
I'm annoyed by the endless stream of advertisements for gambling websites on TV since a few months. It's crazy how many there are since the pandemic. I'm pretty sure your 10% / 90% rule applies for this addiction too Star. Count me in for a ride on the Sober Bus today ☼ |
:shine8pl::egg2: :bus I'm on! |
I never had the lure for gambling (thank goodness). I've walked thru casino's a few times and I have to admit, I enjoyed the walk thru when it was all mechanical with real dings and machine noises. Last time I was at one, a few years back, it was all giant touch screens and even the card tables were gone. Boring. When I first quit drinking I spent my money on scratch tickets. That only lasted Five or Six weeks, I was getting less out of those than the booze. Have a Marvelous Monday! |
I'm lucky in that sense too....I've gone to a few casinos, but I found myself more interested in the free drinks! |
On the bus with coffee in hand... Heading to back of bus to wrap myself in blanket...and look out window... |
On the bus! Happy Monday |
On the bus. No network or cable TV on my bus. Just Netflix. There are no ads on Netflix and it's less than $10 a month. I haven't had "TV" since 2008. Do not miss it...mostly. I do miss big sporting events sometimes but the trade-off has been worth it to me. I used to get really sick of the pharmaceutical and fast food ads, too. Not to mention being hit with "news" teasers all the time. I now have a lot more control of what goes in my eyes. Casinos. I worked in one in Nevada for years. I really liked it - but it was the height of my worst drinking, so of course I liked it. Not much of a gambler, thank God. |
On the bus for good. My experiment sucked. It was no fun, left me feeling miserable, just too stupid for words. From now on I will celebrate with milkshakes, burger & froies from 5 Guys, or bacon. Link to Ruthie getting some exercise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTRBw1pNGbE |
