No one is invincible

TBH I thought I had this licked. Stopped cold turkey for 1 year and 8 mos. Then Covid happened. Feeling lonely I rationalized that I could afford to drink on the weekends and had a grand ole' time the first two weeks. Then I decided I could start on Thursday, and recover 4 days after a 3 day weekend. Today was a difficult day, threw caution to the wind and had a few drinks. Wow, what a mistake. I cannot afford to compromise my job. I miss the relaxed "boring" nights of amazing sleep. Ready to start anew. What a cunning and sneaky opponent alcohol is!!

welcome back Speedy

yeah, my best day ever was the day I accepted that I could not control my drinking, ever.

Very good to see you back, speed - with new determination. Sometimes we need further proof that we have no control once that first one hits us.

Thanks for sharing speed. This is exactly what I needed to read right now so you have helped this alcoholic today.

Thank God you made it back. Stay close 🙏❤

Yes it is cunning and baffling. I look at it as a hungry lion waiting outside my door. I'm ok as long as I don't open it, (the bottle) but if I do I'm done for. Its that simple. There is absolutely no such thing as controlled drinking for a alcoholic. Never.
