16 days

It has been 16 days so far since I again quit drinking. I feel that is quite the accomplishment since I am still unable to get my antabuse due to the national shortage and the long shipping time since I ordered it from an online pharmacy out of the country. I now feel like I may be able to go without it but I want it on hand just in case. I haven't gone this long without antabuse to fall back on.

Hi, Scintillady. 16 Days is great already! You’ve stuck it out without Antabuse this far, which just proves you can. Perhaps Antabuse is just a “psychological” crutch in your case? Part of your “stopping” problem, really? The thinking that you need it to stay “stopped”?

You’ve already proven to yourself that you can go without both – booze and Antabuse. So perhaps it’s time to stop thinking “the Antabuse should be here tomorrow” and time to tell yourself that “today (again), at least, you will not drink”. Antabuse or not; one day at a time…

16 Days is more than half-way to 30; that first big psychological milestone. You can do it, and only you, and you can do it without any crutches...

Well done on 16 days.

I believe you can do it scintillady :)

There are many of us who have not used antabuse so, although I understand you'll feel more secure with it, it shouldn't be a deal breaker not having it :)

24 days now. Antabuse still hasn't come, apparently it takes months from an online pharmacy, but I'm still hanging in there. Feeling good so far.

Maybe you've proven to yourself that you can do it without the Antabuse?

I know that since I was little someone was always giving me *something* to change how I was acting or how I was feeling.

It was sometimes a stuffed animal, a bottle, a food treat. Sometimes a pill like tylenol. Sometimes a drink or a Xanax or an antidepressant.

Really I didn't need 99.99999% of the stuff someone told me I needed.

I now take no pills other than still the occasional tylenol, no other drugs other than caffeine in small doses (well, thyroid hormone, but I don't consider that a "drug") and I'm doing the best ever!

Good luck to you.
